REHIS Introduction to Food Hygiene – Level 1:
The REHIS (Royal Environmental Health Institute for Scotland) Introduction to Food Hygiene course is created as an induction for new start employees within the hospitality sector. The course raises staff awareness of key food hygiene issues, enables food handlers to perform their role competently and ensure food is safe for their clients.
Course Contents:
– Understand common food handling terminology.
– Be able to describe the main causes, sources and symptoms of food poisoning.
– Have a basic understanding of bacteria.
– Be aware of measures for avoiding food poisoning.
– Understand the principles and importance of Personal Hygiene.
– Understand the principles of Safe Food Production.
– Be aware of the supervisor’s role in Food Hygiene.
Assessment & Certification:
On successful completion of the course, a National Accredited Certificate of Attendance will be issued by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS).
Duration: 2 hours
REHIS Introduction to Food & Health:
The REHIS (Royal Environmental Health Institute for Scotland) Introduction to Food and Health course aims to provide participants with a basic knowledge and understanding of healthy eating, nutrition and health. It would be suitable for anyone that requires some basic knowledge of nutrition for their job role or those that wish to know more about healthier eating for themselves or their family.

– An introduction to food and health
– Eating for health and wellbeing
– The Eatwell Guide
– Putting healthy eating into practice
Assessment & Certification:
There is no formal assessment. On successful completion of the course, a National Accredited Certificate of Attendance will be issued by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS).
